You wove our different DNA together, as if we were real cousins! You never missed my family’s funerals to pay your respects. You’d call me after a holiday, when African Americans traditionally eat chitlins, and ask if I had any left. I’d tell you that we ate them, and we’d laugh. Those were GOOD TIMES. -Mary Ann”
