We announce the death of Richard Alan Birney of Aurora, Colorado, who passed away on September 28, 2026, at the age of 78. Richard will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Martha Heikkila Birney and Richard Birney. He is survived by: his significant other Marsha; his son Nicholas; his siblings, Don Birney (Sue) and Barbara Gordon (Jack); his nieces and nephews, Jon Birney (Molly), Erin Jose (Dylan), Patrick Gordon (Heidi) and Maureen Guthrie (Daniel); his son Ron Birney; his sister-in-law Mary Nicholas; and his niece Olivia Estela (Erick).
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary (6601 S Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121). A reception will be held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 at 11:30 AM at the same location.
