He was predeceased by: his parents, Mauricia Franco Varela and Roberto Varela Salazar. He is survived by: his wife Gloria; and his sisters, Anna Olivia Varela and Alma Margarita "Margie" Navarrette. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
