He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernst Poel and Frieda Poel (Jung); and his brothers, Gerhard, Felix, Gustav and Eberhard.

He is survived by: his daughters, Hella Wartman (Paul), Karen (Scott) and Tanya; his grandchildren, Peter, Emily, Isabelle and Annalise; and his wife Adelheid Stodiek (Heidi). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

“My heartfelt condolences on the loss of Piter. I first met him when he was with Central National and I was a new coordinator of financial relations for a natural gas company. Piter was interested in the company as an investment opportunity. We grew to be friends beyond the business relationship. Piter knew I was a USAF veteran and proudly told me about his youngest daughter entering pilot training. I am sorry that I lost track of him when I changed jobs. May he rest in piece, Gary N. Willis.”
