She was predeceased by: her parents, Alberta Bechtel and Carl Bechtel; her brother Carl Bechtel, Jr.; and her husband Harold Masters. She is survived by: her son Ron Tempest, Jr. (Kendra); her stepdaughter Amy Buchanan; her grandsons, Travis Buchanan and Brandon Buchanan; and her cousins, Nell Rittle (Todd Havekotte), Katy Rittle (Jason Boyd) and Paul Petroski (Cindy).

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Humane Society in honor of Carol's love for animals.
