He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Abkes and Ethel Abkes (Blum); and his sister Vicki Combs. He is survived by: his brothers, Douglas (Ione) of Waterloo, Bruce Abkes (Tracie) of Cedar Rapids and Alan Abkes (Kathi) of Cedar Falls; his brother-in-law David Combs; and his uncle Ted Abkes.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home (1825 W 12th St, Cedar Falls, IA 50613).
