He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Snyder and Cora Mae Snyder (Acton); his siblings, Albert (Florence Lannigan), Alta Herrin Woodard (Edward), Virginia Kissell (Tom), Dorothy Miles (Duane), Alberta "Peggy" Lennox (Bill), Wesley (Jackie Silver) and Ivan (Peggy Strobel); and his daughter Carol Middlekamp (Allyn).

He is survived by: his wife Doris Ann Ziegler; his son John L Jr. (Mary Beth Cargo); his grandchildren, Jeff, Wesley, Michelle and Rebecca; his great grandchildren, Amber, Stephanie, Jadyn and Evan; his brother-in-law Bill Lennox; and his son Billy. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
