She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl Gillespie and Jewel L. Gillespie; her brother Forest Wayne Gillespie (Martha); and her husband Walter Elisha Powell. She is survived by: her brother William Carl Gillespie (Becky); her children, Luanna Patricia (Powell) and Dillard (Alfred); her grandchildren, Jacqueline Di (Powell) and Zachary Powell (Angela); and her great grandchildren, Dominik Di Rito, Gavin Di Rito, Vince Di Rito, Gianna Di Rito, Scarlett Powell and Dante Powell. She is also survived by her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Barbara's wishes were in favor of a donation to The American Cancer Society in her name.
