He is survived by: his pet Snickers; his wife Brenda Abelstad; his children, Stacey Dibble (Larry) and Donald Abelstad (Lisa); his grandchildren, Russell Carnes IV, Samantha Sullivan (Alan), Alexandria Abelstad, Aubrianna Wells (Dillon), Erik Abelstad, Alyssa Deppen (Casey), Vanessa Martin (Peter), Marcus Martin-Wegryn (Ana), Marisa Martin-Wegryn and Jessica Martin-Wegryn; his great grandchildren, Makenzy Carnes, Blake Carnes, Carson Carnes, Sadie Carnes, Jack Wells, Stetson Sullivan, Lucia Deppen and Talia Deppen; his sisters, Sue Abelstad Thomas and Nancy Cisneros (Carlos); and his aunt Arlene Weigel. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his memory to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, or Pikes Peak Christian Church.
