“Ruth Mary and I met at Valparaiso University in 1968. We were both in the Engineering program. She was one of only 4 women studying Engineering then. One project we had was to drill holes in a plate to match a gauge piece with 8 pins, laying the holes out by hand, +- 2 thousandths. I KNEW I had to make it better than she did, or I would never hear the end of it. We both got all 8 holes correct. She was a Daughter of Martha, and will be missed.”
