With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Carmelita Marie Sanchez (Cortez, Colorado), born in Eagle, Colorado, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 24, 2026 at the age of 73. Though her name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Carmelita leaves upon the hearts of her loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of her spirit and the richness of her legacy.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Mel Montano and Adeline Montano; and her spouse Kirby Sanchez. She is survived by: her sisters, Donna and Lorraine; her children, Brandon Sanchez (Mistina) and Mandi Birge (Jeremy); her grandchildren, Micaiah Sanchez, BriAnna Comyford and Elsa Sanchez; and her great grandchildren, Kaden, Adeline and Amelia June. She is also survived by her sisters and many extended family members and dear friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 9th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Lewis Arriola Community Center (21176 Rd S, Cortez, CO 81321).
