He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Adam and Hazel May Sligar (Ward); and his siblings, Margaret, Lewis Mack and Roy James.
He is survived by: his significant other Darlene Paxton of Canon City; his children, Deborah Sligar of Modesto, Dawn Seymour (Tim "Doc") of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, David Jr. Sligar (Kathy) of Colorado City, Daniel Sligar (Kelly) of Crestview and Jonathan Sligar of Oklahoma; his significant other's children, Linda, Gay, Pat, Tom and Chris; and his brother John Sligar of Prague, Oklahoma. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
