He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Pomrening and Maybell Westerbuhr (Schaffer); and his siblings, Lois Mahorney, David Pomening, Richard Pomrening and Eddie Turnbull.

He is survived by: his wife Geraldine Pomrening (Beck); his son Andy Frye; his sister Lurlene Vialpando; and his nieces and nephews, Karen Eade (Mario), Sabrina Vialpando, Allan Pomrening (Stacey) and Jimi Vialpando (Michele). He is also survived by two great nieces and one great nephew; two great, great nieces.
