He was predeceased by : his parents, John B. Sterner and Helen M Sterner (Huffnagle); and his siblings, Rosalie Reed, Joan Foreman, Jack Sterner and Phil Sterner.

He is survived by : his daughters, Diane Sterner, Kelly Hoff and Shirl Sellers; his grandchildren, Courtney Shrem (Charlie), Skyler Slavinsky (Kelsey), Chelsea Eden (Dave), Ivy Sellers, Jesse Sellers and Lee Sellers; his great grandchildren, Addy, Claire, Lily, Margot and Violet; and his sister Barbara Roth.
