He was predeceased by: his parents, James Walter and Louthella Ryan (Cole); his wife Betty Joan Kearns; and his son Jim Ryan. He is survived by: his children, Dean Ryan (Jan) of Cedaredge, Bill Ryan (Rhona) of Dublin and Jody Campbell of Montrose, Colorado; and his siblings, Alice of Utah and Bert Ryan (Arlene) of Clifton, CO. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
