He was predeceased by: his parents, James Walter and Reni Bell Mitchell; and his brothers, Delbert and Kenneth Mitchell. He is survived by: his wife Mary A. Mitchell; his daughters, Catherine J. Papka (Robert) and Elizabeth J. Kahler (Walter); his siblings, Glenna Honaker (Phil), Eva Crouch and Benny Mitchell (Margaret); his grandchildren, Brad Papka (April), Jason Papka (Rachelle), Amber Williams (David), Rabecca Kahler, Hannah Kahler, Shane Kahler (Connie), Cory Kahler (Andrea) and Kristin Johnson (John); his great grandchildren, Geffory Papka, Ian Papka, Nada Papka, Chrisitan Bisese, Kaylee Johnson, Chase Johnson, Tucker Kahler and Ayla Kahler; and his great great grandchildren, Tristian Bisese, Ellie Bisese Johnathan Papka, Aaron Papka and Landon Papka.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 19th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Howe Mortuary & Crematory (439 Coffman St, Longmont, CO 80501). Visitation will be held on Monday, October 19th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the same location. The military honors will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 12:30 PM at the Fort Logan National Cemetery (4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236).
