She was predeceased by: her parents, Thornton York and Ernestine York; her husband Raymond Stith; and her sister Genina Rogers. She is survived by: her siblings, Thressa York, Nancy Rogers, Thornton York Jr. (Dora), Reginald York (Alfredia) and Sherman York (Susa). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren.
In the 1990s, Marva made significant contributions to her community by working on Wellington Webb's campaign for Mayor, playing a vital role in the election of Denver's first Black Mayor.
