He is survived by: his sons, Greg Mares and Bob Mares; his grandchildren, Samantha Hernandez, Shawn Mares, Angie Good, Jimme Mares, Megan Wach, Evan Mares, Emma Mares and Olivia Mares; and his great grandchildren, Xavier of Hailey, DJ, Maverick and Alexander. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM at the Newcomer Funeral Home (901 S Sheridan Blvd, Denver, CO 80226). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 9:00 AM at the Newcomer Funeral Home (901 S Sheridan Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80226). A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Fort Logan National Cemetery (3645 S Sheridan Blvd, Denver, CO 80235).
