Sandra Zamudio Obituary

Sandra 'Sandy' Zamudio, 58, of Denver, CO, passed away on August 3, 2025.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Robert Zamudio of Denver; her children, Katrina, Samuel, and Marissa Zamudio; her sister, Donna Casias (Steve) of Los Sauces, CO; her brother, Rick Salazar (Lisa) of Sanford, CO; her father, Robert Salazar of Los Sauces, CO; her parents-in-law Trini and Baldomero Zamudio; her sisters-in-law Mary Fajardo, Alicia Calderon, Martha Arace, Ana Navratil (Rob), Racheal Gomez (Eric) and Sharon Salazar; and her brothers-in-law Carlos Zamudio (Sue) and Gabriel Zamudio (Debbie).

She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Johnny Casias, Angelo Salazar, Kevin Salazar, Sheree Salazar, Kieanna Salazar, Tahlia Salazar, Kalee Salazar, god-daughter Ava Salazar, Tom Stadlbauer, Mike Stadlbauer, Alfonso Calderon, Marina Damian, Ricardo Calderon, Charmaine Volkman, Brian Zamudio, Pete Jimenez, Joe Cruise, Rachel Navratil, Caitlin Navratil, Francine Neville, Regis Zamudio, Erica Lespron, Shawna Murley, Chris Gomez, Alex Gomez and their families.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mercy Salazar, and brother, Herold Salazar.

Sandra was born in La Jara, CO, to Mercy and Robert Salazar on November 6, 1966. She graduated from Sanford High School in 1985. She went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Elementary and Bilingual/Bicultural Education from the University of Northern Colorado and a master's degree in Social Multicultural Bilingual Foundations from the University of Colorado Boulder. She was a beloved teacher for 35 years, most recently teaching 3rd Grade at Notre Dame Catholic School in Denver, CO.

She enjoyed traveling, camping, hiking, painting, dining out, playing cards, gardening, watching her movies and shows, and most of all, spending time with her family, friends, and 'grand cats'. She particularly enjoyed exploring the world with her husband, Robert, and experiencing new places and cultures.

There will be a vigil and rosary on Thursday, August 14th at 7pm at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Denver, CO. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, August 16th at 10am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos, CO.

Immediately following the funeral mass, there will be a procession to Gate to Heaven Cemetery in Los Sauces, CO (shown on Google Maps as 'Lasauses, CO'). A reception will follow the burial at a location to be announced.

Our world was brighter with Sandra in it, and we were blessed to know her love. She made a beautiful difference with an incredible community legacy and left this world a better place for having been a part of it!
