She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence Maelzer and Margaret Maelzer (Fraser); her husband William "Bill" Smith; and her sister Neva Funderburgh. She is survived by: her daughter Tracie Larson (Scott) of Lone Tree, Colorado; her grandchildren, Chelsie Di Paola (Nathan) of Santa Monica, California and Derrick Rasser (Natalie) of Fort Collins, Colorado; her great grandchild Lina Di Paola; and her extended family, Pat Lord of Aurora, Colorado and Timothy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Colorado Symphony, honoring Shirley's love of music.
