He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Heikes (Ted) and Wilma Heikes; his wife Lena; and his siblings-in-law, Rose Hamilton, Bud Hamilton, Allen Jantz and John Jantz.
He is survived by: his sons, Craig (Lori Gafner) of Fort Collins, CO and Brian (Cynthia Favero-Heikes); his grandchildren, John of Colorado, Meg of Colorado, Jack of Colorado and Will of Colorado; his siblings-in-law, Ken Jantz (Linda), Myrna Jantz and Marie Jantz of Idaho; and his sibling's children, Roger, Karl (Kris), Paul Hamilton (Shauna), Ina Jaszkowiak (Tim), Cass Cook, Laura Vincent (Sean), Erik Jantz (Jerrie), Justin Jantz, Kendra Burlo (Sergey), Nathan and Matt Jantz.
Beginning in 1968, Ken had been one of the three founding directors of the Montana State University Foundation. He served the Foundation in several capacities and was named "fundraiser of the year" on a couple of occasions.
