He is survived by: his wife Deborah Ann Thuener (Reisch); his children, Henry August Thuener III, Bennett Everett Thuener (Erica Thuener), Michael Allen Thuener (Amanda Thuener) and Jennifer Elizabeth Thuener; his grandchildren, Ashley, Quincey, Roen, Henrietta, Gretchen and Elam; and his siblings, Chester Alexander Thuener and Adele Satterfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church and School.
