He was predeceased by: his parents, Margaret Meis and Joseph Martin Meis; his wife Violet Meis; his former wife Betty Lou Sandau; and his sons, Gary and Randy.

He is survived by: his daughters, Sherri Zuhlke (Mike) of Greeley, Linda Viertel of Troy, NY and Beverly Barnes (Kevin) of El Cajon, CA; his stepson Billy Nevill of Troy, NY; and his brother Gerald Meis (Jeannie). He is also survived by six grandchildren.
