He was predeceased by: his parents, Lowell H. Gilliland and Beulah Pingetzer; his brother Jim; and his sister-in-law Joyce. He is survived by: his sons, Jon (LeeAnn) of Loveland and Steve (Jody) of Kersey; his wife Joyce Grotz; his daughter Jane Bowman (Dave) of Pine Bluffs; his brothers, Dennis Gilliland and Pete Gilliland; his grandchildren, Amanda Bowman Brown (Keenan) of Pine Bluffs, Kyle Bowman (Kaylee) of Pine Bluffs, Parker Gilliland (Lily) of Evans, CO and Levi Gilliland (Chloe) of Lubbock, TX; his great grandchildren, Kason and Koyer Bowman; and his granddaughter Emmilyn Jo Brown of Pine Bluffs. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
