He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Fred Berning and Dorothy Marie Berning; and his brother Tom Berning (Linda). He is survived by: his wife Nancy Dean Berning; his children, Jennifer Foster (Dave), Greg Berning (Alexis), John Berning and Katherine Berning; and his siblings, Hank Berning, Mike Berning (Denise), Janet Olson (Eric), Jean Bienz (Mark) and Kent Berning. He is also survived by his extended family, friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Dan's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, two causes close to his heart.
