He was predeceased by: his parents, Simon Sr. Tafoya and Teresa Tafoya (Sandoval); his wife Marie Ida Tafoya; his daughter-in-law Patricia Tafoya; and his siblings, Leonard Tafoya, Tony Tafoya, Alex Tafoya, Ralph Tafoya, Sam Tafoya and Virginia Garcia.
He is survived by: his children, Leonard Tafoya, Sr. (Isabel Alamos) of La Junta, CO, Howard Tafoya, Sr. (Donna) of La Junta, CO, Makey Tafoya (Robbie Sisneros) of La Junta, CO and Norma Tafoya of La Junta, CO; his grandchildren, Joshua Tafoya, Leonard Tafoya, Jr., Leann Veneklasen, Kristine Powers, Fahleena Tafoya, Howard Tafoya, Jr., Tanya Tafoya, Ashley Sisneros and Lucas Sisneros; and his siblings, Simon Tafoya, Jr., Marina Tanner, Delores Tafoya and Frances Martinez. He is also survived by twenty-three great-grandchildren.
