We are sad to announce that on September 23, 2025, at the age of 81, Mary Eleanor Weir of La Veta, Colorado passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Mary Eleanor Weir to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by: her parents, L. D. Ward and Mary Ward; her husband Ellis Weir; and her siblings, Darlene Ward, Elaine Bixby, Karen McCloy and Pete Ward.

She is survived by: her daughters, Joanna Mills (Jeff) and Judy Goodwin (Dave); her stepsons, Walter Weir and Bob Weir (Daria); her sister Kathleen Hesse (Walter); and her grandchildren, Shelbi Brack (Taylor), Jacee Weeter (Tracy), Laine Herl, Chayton Goodwin, Layne Mitchek (Trenton), Sloan Pugh, Chance Weir, Danya Weir and Caitlin Maxwell (Kyle). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and twelve cherished great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Goodland Regional Medical Center Foundation, or La Veta Booster Club in her honor and may be left at the services or mailed to Koons-Russell Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, KS 67735.

“Joanna, Judy, and families - I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss! Eleanor was a neighbor and a friend of mine. She was a year behind me in Hoehne School. I have many fond memories of her at 4-H meetings and school activities. She was a wonderful kind and caring person. One memory I have is that every year Hoehne had a Christmas play for the public. Guess who always got to be the angel - your mom because she had long blond hair!! She was beautiful! Edna Van Gundy”
