She is survived by: her children, Joshua Wainwright and Amanda Wainwright; and her grandchildren, Jacob, Jack and Kate.
Karen's long and vibrant career included work with and contributions to the Peace Corps, Centers for Disease Control, Alaska Native Medical Center, and National Institutes of Health.
