Alexander James Lemmer Obituary

My beautiful radiant son, Alexander James Lemmer, ended his own life on October 8th, 2020. He was 22 years old. Alexander is survived by his brothers and best friends, Anson and Avery, his mother Melanie, as well as family and friends who love him eternally. Alexander was greeted upon his death by his little brother, Aidan, and his other family and friends who were waiting for him with open loving arms on the other side.

Alexander was born in Minneapolis, MN on September 3rd, 1998. His bright spirit has shown through since the day he came into our lives. He was the excited and ever curious little brother, always looking to his big brother, Anson, for guidance and adventure. The experiences they achieved together in this lifetime are the most cherished of wonderful memories. Alexander never failed to openly love, protect, and care for his baby brother, Avery, too. He was always checking in on his brother and the time they have spent loving each other in this life was incredible. Alexander and his brothers have a bond that neither time nor distance can fragment.

As his lifelong love of music evolved, Alex loved to play guitar - he was brilliant and talented. He created art. Alex was a gift and he has left this world more beautiful than he found it. He liked to imagine a world so much better than what society now offers - his dreams for peace were real and his daily actions nurtured that goal. Alexander was a proud United States Postal Worker - our own Mr. McFeely - and the impact he has left upon the team he served with and the community he served is one of love and careful considerate kindness for one another.

Alexander's true nature was one of extreme love and sensitivity. He was smart, resourceful, lively, and determined. As Alex grew, he built a new and brighter personality: a personality of cool vibes, of free-spirited fun, of hard work and goals achieved. He also built stubborn walls to protect his fragile self. He constructed a confidence that seemed to efficiently hide his hurt from the world. Alex had a laugh that showered you with good vibes and a hug that would warm the coldest of hearts. He made friends; he gave love freely; he shared smiles and peace signs wherever he went; he explored, and everywhere he went, Alex left his mark of beauty upon this world.

Our Alexander was taken from us by a drunken impulse in a moment of despair that can never be taken back. We do not hold anything but love for Alexander and we honor the path of his life.

We understand that throughout Alex's life, as he strived to be successful, to feel valued and important and special, he had moments that he struggled with depression. We also understand that depression and alcohol are insidious and corrosive. They attack your mind, body, and soul by seizing your neurochemistry, weakening you, distorting your thoughts, exhausting your body and leaving you emotionally vulnerable. And as depression rails against you, it challenges everything you know, trust and believe. It deceives and mangles in ways that are convincing. We hold a special space for Alexander and we encourage you to please be aware of yourself and those you love who are battling this stealthy disease. In honor of Alexander, please do not ever give up - please know that you are loved and wanted and cherished, always.

We know our Alexander is now at rest, and we hold him close within our hearts. Please hold him close, as we do, in your mind and your spirit. Remember the meaning of this tragedy. Reach out to the people you see whom are struggling, and let this encourage each of us within ourselves to live each day to its fullest; to remember every day the immeasurable value, ineffable mystery, and extraordinary beauty of this loving soul, Alexander James Lemmer, who blessed our hearts and lives.

Long live the beauty and vibrancy that comes down and through and onto all of us through Alexander's legacy of love.
