He was predeceased by : his parents, Floyd Gilbert Smiley and Juanita Maude Smiley (Woodruff); and his siblings, Ella Mae, Lloyd, Max, Robert and Dewane.

He is survived by : his wife Patricia Irish; his children, Danette Jackson (Sean Jackson) of Bayfield, Colorado and Brent Smiley (Michele Smiley) of Elkhorn, Wisconsin; his sister Joyce Koehn of Limon, Colorado.; and his grandchildren, Chandler Jackson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jamie Smiley of Elkhorn, Wisconsin and Collin Jackson of Austin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
