Wilbur Louis "Bill" Ridgeway, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully at his home in Littleton, Colorado, on December 27, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on December 18, 1936, in Marquette, Michigan, and raised in Mt. Pulaski, Illinois, Bill's warm smile and adventurous spirit enriched the lives of all who knew him.
After proudly serving in the Naval Reserve for eight years, Bill embarked on a distinguished career in the grocery industry. He spent his professional life as a dedicated meat cutter, eventually taking on roles such as meat manager, meat supervisor, deli director, and manager of meat plant shipping at King Soopers. His hard work, leadership, and friendly demeanor were a constant throughout his career, earning him the respect and friendship of his colleagues.
Bill's love for life extended far beyond his professional endeavors. An avid outdoorsman, he could often be found fishing or hunting, taking pleasure in the simplicity and beauty of nature. His talent for woodworking was not only a testament to his patience and skill but also a hobby through which he expressed his creativity and love for craftsmanship.
His greatest joy was found in the company of his family. Bill was the cornerstone of family gatherings, hosting pool parties and holiday celebrations that will be remembered for generations. His presence at these events was a source of happiness and comfort to his loved ones.
Bill's gentle and adventurous spirit is survived by his devoted wife of many years, Debra Kay Ridgeway; his loving daughters, Victoria Rene Jessen, Debra Jo Ridgeway, and Elaine Guthrie; his adoring grandsons, Wade, John Taylor, and Jordan, and granddaughters, Shelby and Kacie; and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his caring sister, Donna Meyer, who resides in Illinois.
Those who knew Bill would describe him as the epitome of friendliness. His gentle demeanor and willingness to lend a hand were characteristics that defined him. He approached life with a sense of adventure, always ready for a new challenge or experience. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and love for his family will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
He was a man who made a lasting impact not only through his work but through the way he lived his life each day. His unwavering support for his family and friends, his dedication to his passions, and his infectious enthusiasm for life will be deeply missed.
