She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Howell James and Theresa James (Burd); her husband Norman; and her children, Brian, Glenn and Sharon. She was also cherished by 9 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

After a personal struggle with cancer, Phyllis and Norman became active in the American Cancer Society.
