He was predeceased by: his parents, William Conrad Sauer and Lois V Bunger; his brother William Sauer; the mother of his children Donna; his son Dirk Samuel Sauer; his grandson Kenneth Paul Sauer; and his grandfather Howard.
He is survived by: his brothers, Bob and Jim; his grandson Zane Sauer; his former wife Bonnie Sauer; and his sons, Daniel John, David Paul and Dale Matthew. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
