He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose Barela and Stella Barela; and his siblings, Lorraine Barela, Lawerence Barela, David Sanchez, Jim Barela and Cathy Jasdzewski.
He is survived by: his wife Vela Barela; his children, Steve Barela, Brenda Hurtado (Tim) and Tanya Jones; his grandchildren, Sharena, Roosa, Joey (Brittany), Reuben, Vanessa, Tim and Sara; his great grandchildren, Zechariah, Amiyah, Johnson, Harmony, Jahmir, Elijah, Lilly, Prevon and Damon; and his siblings, Geno Barela, Bob Barela, Doris Barela (Jim Gonzales) and Stella French. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family.
