He was predeceased by: his parents, Gertrude Bernice Mitchell and Fred Dean Darling; his stepfather James Preston Mitchell; his wife Joan Marie Nelson; and his children, Joiakim Korin Shortino and Jason James Darling.
He is survived by: his close friend Josh Vass; his daughters, Josephine Jones (Kolt) and Johanna Griffith; his siblings, Connie Mills (Milo), Carol Waterman (Bud), Keith Darling (Susie), Randy Darling, Kenny Mitchell and Ray Mitchell; and his aunts, Irene and Doris. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and one nephew; and numerous friends and family.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 8th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Tennant Funeral Home & Crematory (330 S 2nd St, Sterling, CO 80751).
