He was predeceased by: his father Spence Brinkley. He is survived by: his mother Dorothy Gonzales Brinkley; his wife Wendy Hockman Brinkley; his siblings, David Brinkley (Patricia), Diane Meehl (Tony) and Darlene Brinkley; and his aunt Nicole Gonzales. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
