Family, friends, and acquaintances remember Mary Ellen for her warmth, thoughtfulness, and the moments shared together. While she will be deeply missed, the influence she had on the lives around her remains. Loved ones will reflect on the time spent together. Mary Ellen’s memory will live on in the hearts of friends and family, a lasting reminder of the connections and experiences she brought to the world.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Sprinkle and Helen Sprinkle (Lundien). She is survived by: her significant other Kenneth Root of Westcliffe; her son Chris Root of Westcliffe; her sisters, Tammorah Alexander (Norman) of Steamboat Springs, Deborah Losey of Arvada and Diana Keck (Kevin) of Greeley; her half-brother John Laborde of Hugo; and her brothers-in-law, Jim Root (Ann) of Topeka, KS and Doug Root (Connie) of Westcliffe. She is also survived by eleven nieces & nephews & numerous other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Lamar United Methodist Church (107 S 6th St, Lamar, CO 81052).
