He was predeceased by: his former wife May Marie Carroll (Matz); his wife Elaine Sweeney Carroll (Rusche); his brothers, George Fornelli and Michael Dennis Carroll; his parents, Josephine Finley (Fornelli) and Clifford Finley; and his adoptive father Michael Daniel Carroll.
He is survived by: his children, Elizabeth M. Carroll of Golden and John F. Carroll II of Wheat Ridge; his sister Colleen C. Blythe of Littleton; and his grandchildren, Shane C. Mosser of Colorado Springs, Jeremy S. Mosser of Golden, John F. Carroll III (Jack) of Thornton and Grace C. Carroll of Thornton.
