He is survived by: his mother Tomasa Gardea of Chavez; his siblings, Maria Morales Chavez, Guadalupe Chavez Gardea, Oscar Chavez Gardea, Jose Armando Chavez Gardea and Martin Chavez Gardea; his former wife Otilia Salgado; his children, Jose Antonio "Tony" Chavez, Arianna Ramirez and Roberto Chavez, Jr.; his stepchildren, Hector Valles and Marisela Valles; his grandchildren, Gabriel Moltrer, Marcus Ariel Valles, Monica Alarcon, Amber Ramirez, Ivan Alexander Ramirez Jr., Diego Roberto Chavez, Maximiliano Chavez, Sarid Rivera Salazar and Sarah Chavez; and his great grandchild Harleigh Quinn Moltrer.
