He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack A. Schafer and Bonetta Schafer; his mother-in-law Dorothy White; his brothers-in-law, Roger White and Larry Schulte; and his close friend Eric Jones.
He is survived by: his wife Marla Schafer; his daughter Michelle Valko (Kevin); his grandchildren, Alice Jack and Maddox Eugene; his sister Jacklin Schulte; his friend Enda Fross; his father-in-law Rodney White; and his siblings-in-law, Kevin White, Tim White and Rhonda White. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Liberty High School (9332 US-36, Joes, CO 80822).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Doug Schafer Memorial at Wray State Bank Benefiting Alice and Maddox.
