He was predeceased by : his parents, Carl Pagel and Viola Pagel of Yuma. He is survived by : his former life partner Carmen Renzelman; his son-in-law Ed; his grandchildren, Shawn, Stephanie, Scott, Shelby and Aaron; his wife Carrie Thorn; his grandchildren, Baylie, Lynzee, Kiley, Tyler, Jarryd and Erick; his siblings-in-law, Jodeane Pagel, Donna McKibben and Larry McKellips; his children, Connie Mireles (Dan) and Bernie Pagel; his stepchildren, Darin Thorn (Denise), Devin Thorn (Alisha) and Dana Allen (Troy); and also, Adalyn, Brooklyn and Maddox. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to: Trinity Lutheran School of Fort Morgan or St. John's Lutheran Church in Yuma.
