He was predeceased by : his parents, Francis Handfield and Thelma Handfield (Chamberlain). He is survived by : his wife Lois; his stepchildren, Keith Brann (Tami), Kendall Brann (Joan) and Brian Gauvin (Betsy); his siblings, Francis "Jerry" Handfield (Val), Carol Valone (Jack), James Handfield (Diane), Philip Handfield (Pam), Elizabeth "Betty" Kasacek (Tony), Charles Handfield (Melinda) and Richard Handfield (Deb); and his aunt Doris Clark. He is also survived by step-grandchildren and a step-great-grandchild.
