He was predeceased by: his parents, Evans James Byrd Sr. and Clara Peagler; his stepfather William Peagler; his sister Antoinette Collins; his sibling's children, Tracy Collins, Kimberly Collins Morton and Hugh Jeffrey Collins; and his great-niece Nova Collins.

He is survived by: his wife Sandra Byrd of Kensington; his sister Lenore; his brother-in-law Leon Brown of Clinton; and his sibling's children, Matthew Byrd (Patricia) of Berlin and Jessica Byrd-Painter (Eric) of Farmington. He is also survived by grandchildren.
