He was predeceased by: his parents, James J. Vartelas and Jeanne Barbour Vartelas; and his brother John Vartelas. He is survived by: his sons, James P. Vartelas of Ansonia and Matthew J. Vartelas of Seymour; his sister Judith Vartelas (Karl); his niece Alyssa; his nephew Spencer Hricko of New Jersey; and his friend Nancy Osiecki.
