We announce the death of Joseph Hewes (Avon, Connecticut), who passed away on August 28, 2026, at the age of 87. Joseph will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Philip Hewes and Mary Brainerd Hewes. He is survived by: his wife Karen Hewes (Reade); his children, Elizabeth Hewes Marquis (Francois), Joseph Hewes Jr. and Sarah Hewes Overton (Frank); his grandchildren, Andrew Marquis, Griffin Marquis, Hudson Overton and Ruby Overton; his sister Ellicott Hewes Bradfield of Wilton, England; and his nephews, Leverett Wharton of Idaho and Charles Wharton of Rhode Island.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center (301 Country Club Rd, Avon, CT 06001).
