She was predeceased by: her husbands, Charles Chesnut and Leonard Smith; her son Gregory Chesnut; her parents, Gertrude Shadley and Ralph Shadley; her brother Frederic Shadley; and her sons-in-law, John Walsh and Thomas Crowley.

She is survived by: her daughters, Susan Stone (Chuck), Nancy Gautier (Tito), Mary Chesnut, Betsy Walsh, Caroline Blair (Don), Sara Prete and Amy Crowley.
