He was predeceased by : his wife Ruth Single Barnes; his parents, Warren Barnes and Anna Daw Barnes; and his siblings, Doris Dall'Ava and Warren Barnes.

He is survived by : his sons, Russell (Priscilla), David of Cheshire, Kurt (Marion), Steven (Lancy) and Mark (Lynda); and his brother Fred Barnes. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
