He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Johnson and Anne Johnson (Bingham); his siblings, Dr. Samuel Johnson (Bette) and Patricia "Patsy" Andrews (Thomas); and his daughter Joanna Carol Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife U. S. Congresswoman Nancy L. Johnson; his daughters, Lindsey Johnson (John Suddarth) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Althea McDonald (James) of Cary, NC and Caroline Genners (Randall) of Jacksonville, FL; and his grandchildren, Christopher Genners (Ashleigh), Nicholas Genners (Kelsey), Adam Genners (Stephanie), Paul Genners (Kaitlyn), Nicole McDonald (Alex), Joanna McDonald, Kymberley Suddarth, Dori Suddarth Botts (Mike), Tova Suddarth (Mark Escott) and Ian Suddarth. He is also survived by 6 great-granddaughters, 4 great-grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
