He was predeceased by : his parents, August Harms and Ella Harms (Ryder); his wife Lorna Joan Lawrence; and his children-in-law, Cindy Harms and Mark Forader.

He is survived by : his children, David Harms (Carrie) of Winsted, Donna Basler (Darrell) of East Hartford and Diane Forader of Merritt Island, FL; his grandchildren, Ginger Harms (Ray), Jesse Harms (Vanessa), Christopher Basler (Lauren) and Bryan Basler; his great grandchildren, Jazmyn, Anne Marie, Matthew, Mackenzie, Hailey and Sophia; his siblings, Ken Harms (Mary Lou) and Ginny Baldwin (Howard); and his close friend Suzanne Horrigan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
