She was predeceased by: her parents, Bertha Pittman and James Merritt; her son Stanley Thompson; and her siblings, William Sims (Juanita), James Merritt, Moses Meritt, Ed Merritt, Hazel Merritt, Augustus Merritt and Clara Merritt.
She is survived by: her former husband Elijah Taylor; her daughter Carolyn Lewis; her husband Theodore Thompson; her child Demetrica; her caregivers, Brian and Gloria; her children, Carloyn Lewis of Mount Vernon, NY, Velma Taylor (Nate), Celia, Francine Wright (Paul), Demetricia Washington Cincinnati and Jacqueline; her brothers, Alex Merritt and Moses Merritt Miami of Florida; and her nephew Billy. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews.
